Troubleshooting FAQ's:

1. My recordings don't have video or audio, or the software doesn't capture video.

You need to ensure that the capture device (USB) has been set up correctly.

To do this, click Start, Control Panel, System. Then go to System, Device Manager.

Ensure that Syntek 1150/1160 is in the list. The listing should be put beneath "Imaging Devices."

If the listing isn't there, you need to reinstall the driver for your device off the device CD.

If the driver will not install, check and see if you are using Windows 64-bit. The device is not yet compatible with this version of Windows. Here's how to do that:

3. The driver won't install for me, but I have Windows 32-bit.

Here's what to do...

i. Put in the CD that came with your device.

ii. Click Start -> Control Panel. Click System. Click Device Manager.

iii. Inside device manager, locate "USB Capture Device" or similar in the list. It should have a yellow exclamation point. Right-click on this listing and choose "Update Driver."

iv. Instead of installing the driver automatically, tell Windows you want to browse your PC for a driver.

v. In the driver installation wizard, locate the "Driver" folder on the CD-ROM and continue.

vi. If Windows warns you that the driver is not Windows Logo Tested. choose to continue the installation anyway.

vii. After updating the driver, the listing should appear in Device Manager as normal.

viii. Restart your PC and try again.

4. "My VCR only has one 'audio out' jack. What do I do?"

For VCR's with only one audio out port, you will need to get this small splitter:
